The kitchen sink where the leak occured

Water Leak Causes Extensive Damage

A leak occurred in the kitchen area at this home. By the time the tenant noticed the water had spread throughout the entire home. The cabinets beneath the sink, the flooring and parts of the walls were damaged. The tenant called SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas to begin the restoration process. We managed to remove the damaged material and dry out the affected areas swiftly. Because of this we were able to save some of the materials and decrease demolition in the home. At the end the client was left satisfied with the results and we made it look "Like it never even happened."

Commercial Mold Remediation

Our technicians were called into this business in Downtown Glendora because a leaky pipe had caused long term water damage inside of their walls. What started as a small leak turned into a flood from their bathroom sink, affecting the business next door to them as well. Because the insulation had trapped moisture in the walls and flooring, mold began to grow. Mold growth causes a variety of health effects and must be treated immediately. Our team went to work and removed all the infected insulation/flooring, and treated the affected areas with microbial spray. This business will be up and running in no time!

Warehouse Flood

A warehouse pipe burst last week in Irwindale & SERVPRO of South Pasadena called our team in for extra reinforcements. Because the commercial building was on a slant, the water flooded the office space as well. Already we could see the walls absorbing moisture, but our team brought in hundreds of fans to dry out the building. When one SERVPRO isn't enough, we have the resources of hundreds of franchises in the state!

Man Against Nature In So. Cal.

Southern California goes through a predictable Winter Rain and Summer Fire cycle every year.

The Fall and Winter Rains combined with mild temperatures provide a great growing season for plants, and, the arid climate and Summer heat then quickly dries out the ground cover making it perfect fuel for fires in the foothills.

When the fires burn off the ground cover, the soil loses the stabilizing plant roots.  The soil is then easily washed away as mud during the following Winter runoff.

K-rail, sand bags and other barriers are set up in the Winter of 2016 to block the flow of mud in a wash above Melcanyon Road in Duarte, Calif., a threatened area below a San Gabriel Mountains burn area known as the Fish Fire.

As a "Large Loss" Franchise SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas & Irwindale/Baldwin Park have the resources to help whole communities with Emergency Services when Southern California needs help digging out.

Fire Bomber over Southern California Fire

Being an arid climate, California annually experiences "Fire Storms" that can start in the Springtime and extend through the Fall months.

Fire Storms in Southern California devastate millions in private and public property every year.  SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas & Irwindale/Baldwin Park can help recover when restoration is an option.

The plane in the picture is spreading red fire retardant (Foscheck) over a burn site in the Southern California foothills during the 2016 Fire Season.  Fire retardants work three ways: removing heat, coating the surface (so the fuel can't find oxygen), or by diluting the air (oxygen) near the fire.

The men and women who specialize as Pilots flying these Fire Bombers are already out there doing their job again in June, 2017

Not all Firefighters arrive at the scene in a red or green truck.....

Extreme Conditions for Mold

When the right moisture conditions exist, mold can take root and grow unchecked inside wood construction buildings, creating a health concern for elderly, young children, and those with respiratory conditions.

The attached photo is an extreme example of how allowing water migration to go uncontrolled in a home or business can turn into something almost comical.  These mushrooms are from spores very similar to those outside that you may find growing in a garden or forest. All that is required for these spores to grow and multiply is to provide them water, and a food source (traditional wooden building materials are a great food source).  Let nature take it's course and you can see what happens.  Removing the water source and treating the mold with anti-microbial solution and mechanical abrasion (to remove the root system), and the mold growth can be controlled.  At SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas, Mold remediation is one of our core businesses.

Fire Contamination

Most of the time the damage caused by fire is visible as a direct result of the heat and flames.  However, there are times when the damage is from the debris that comes from the fire in the form of fine particles in the smoke.

The attached picture is of a car (late Model S Tesla) with a white paint job.  You can see the black soot from the fire that has settled on the paint.  The fallout from the fire was created from stacks of plastic 4'x6' PVC flower bed trays melted down by the fire.  The particles rained down on the all the cars in the area as the hot air from the fire cooled and settled back to the ground.  SERVPRO helped with the specialty services required to clean up the cars affected by this disaster too.

Santa Fe Fire

In 2016 there was a commercial fire in Santa Fe Springs, California that SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas responded to.  The business is a Nursery Supply Center, specializing in supplying seed bed media, fertilizers, and equipment for the nursery industry.  The fire broke out in the morning hours just after opening, and thousands of pounds of merchandise in the staging yard were set ablaze. Visible is the burned and melted inventory along with a fork truck, fans, bedding material with the plastic packaging melted off, and a scorched cement structure.  You can see the metal door deformed from the heat of the fire.  Significant smoke damage occurred inside the building along with the adjacent structure next door as well.

Relay For Life 2017

Every year, SERVPRO of Glendora/San Dimas & Irwindale/Baldwin Park, participates in various community events.  Among our favorites, is the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life fundraising event.  Each year in the Spring, businesses and residents from Glendora and San Dimas California, come together to recognize those affected by Cancer either as a personal experience, or that of a loved one or friend.  Contributing to the research efforts by collecting donations and displaying the spirit of giving is a fundamental part of our business philosophy and core values.

In the photo is "SERVPRO Joe" McCann, our franchise owner, posing in this year's entry in the "Road to Recovery" cardboard car race.  The event is a symbol of the important work of helping cancer patients get to and from life saving treatments who might otherwise not be able to make their appointments.  "Starship Hope" did not win the race, but it did get best in show!

Example of Mold in La Verne

Mold is a common household problem, developing in warm, damp environments. Mold can be colored green, purple, white, and orange. While mold plays an important role outside in the environment, breaking down dead plants, mold is unwelcome in homes. Here is an example found recently in a La Verne home.

Flooded Basement

A flooded basement was full of deep water when SERVPRO Glendora/San Dimas arrived. The water was a few feet deep. The longer water sits unchecked the more likely it is for mold to grow, creating potentially bigger issues.

Flooded Basement

Another image detailing how deep the water was, submerging almost half of the water heater. Water has the potential to create much larger and irreversible issues if left unchecked for too long.
